MEET OUR TEAM

Ian Quigley, MBA, CFA, CBV

Portfolio Manager

I have had and continue to have the privilege of offering investment management services for almost 25 years. Starting as an investment advisor, I gained registration for Qube as a portfolio management company in 2011 and transitioned into professional services as a portfolio manager. My career has offered me endless opportunities to chase curiosities in financial planning and investment valuation while serving good people. I am grateful for the opportunity to mentor a team of bright and caring professionals. Our mission is to “Make Wealth Matter,” and watching “Qubies” progress their careers in finance while gaining purpose from serving the needs of our investors has been a highlight.  The entire team genuinely views our work from a fiduciary’s standpoint.

My academic training includes a graduate degree in Business Administration (MBA), as well as an undergraduate degree in research and analysis (Honors Program Physical Geography), both from the University of Alberta. Prior to this, I attended the Northern Alberta Institute of Technology (NAIT), completing an honours diploma in Finance. I have completed the study programs and final exams for the CFP, CIM, CLU, SIPC and CEA designations. I am both a CFA and CBV charter holder. I have authored and taught (part-time) for a number of Provincial Institutes of Chartered Accountants and local colleges and universities. I wrote a 2006 book called “Tax & Compensation Strategies,” which was published by Carswell.

I am proud to have been a past board member with HIV Edmonton and a past signatory in the UNPRI (www.unpri.org). At the PRI, I served as a member of the Clearinghouse Steering Committee (which offers guidance to all global members on shareholder engagements) and other active collaboratives. We also set up a public foundation to encourage social investment in 2017 (Qube Foundation) that recently attempted to start an affordable housing fund. I am currently a board member of CFA Edmonton and volunteer at the Edmonton General Hospital with the spiritual care team.

In my spare time, I love to sport climb, bicycle and motorbike backroads in Canada and beyond. I have two daughters and one son-in-law, which greatly define my life, and I was lucky enough to have married the love of my life and best friend. I also have a dog named Roary.

His 2024 Professional Goal: Finishing a re-read of Benjamin Graham’s seminal books on investing and looking for historical insights and inspiration. He hopes to finish an online sports analytics course. Finally, he hopes to become a better mentor and coach to our young team.

MEET OUR TEAM

Portfolio Manager

I don’t believe it is crazy to desire change. In my professional world at Qube Investment Management, I desire a portfolio of corporations that set new standards in environmental, social and ethical stewardship, while generating the best returns available for our investors. Basically, acting as the portfolio manager to engaged investors that see investing as a responsibility and opportunity for social change.

My academic training includes a graduate degree in Business Administration (MBA), as well as an undergraduate degree in research and analysis (Honors Program Physical Geography). Both from the University of Alberta. Prior to this, I attended the Northern Alberta Institute of Technology (NAIT) completing an honors diploma in Finance. I have completed the study programs and final exams for the CFP, CIM, CLU, SIPC and CEA designations. I am both a CFA and CBV charter holder.

In addition to serving our investment/pension clients, I like to author and teach in tax, compensation and investing. I have authored and taught (part-time) for a number of Provincial Institutes of Chartered Accountants and local colleges and universities. I did write a book in 2006, called “Tax & Compensation Strategies”, which was published by Carswell.
