The commitment of 7-10 hours per week during the school year and 40 hours a week during Summer 2021. 1-2 positions available ideally for those entering their 3rd-year of Finance with a specialization in basic equity valuation. Therefore, we are only recruiting those finishing their 2nd year of Commerce at this time.

After several training workshops, students will assist in evaluating and rating equity investments currently held in Qube portfolios. Our Portfolio Managers use these ratings as part of sell decisions within our portfolio. Equity valuations include basic quantitative and qualitative reviews (Phase 1 Assignments) that determine and define both intrinsic share values, trends in key valuation factors, as well as other quantitative perspectives. Our equity valuation process follows prescribed and classic methodology as taught in the CFA curriculum.

Qube QAP Program

We are only recruiting candidates from 2nd year commerce degree programs who have declared finance as their major. Experience in finance research is very rare in Edmonton, despite Edmonton hosting the Alberta Investment Management Corporation and 2-3 independent investment management firms like Qube. Our program will greatly assist a finance major to gain experience relevant in a portfolio management career starting as an investment analyst.
Our research program follows closely the methodology taught in the CFA (Chartered Financial Analyst) program. Students looking to take the CFA program will find experience in our research positions(s) of great value to master the valuation procedures taught and expected of a CFA candidate. Although not required, prefered candidates will have completed the Canadian Securities Course (CSC), the Level 1 of the CFA program or other investment related training. If you love investment research, consider applying.

We are an Equal Opportunity Employer. Employee candidates will be selected strictly on the basis of an individual’s technical qualifications, knowledge and experience, as they relate to the requirements of a particular position. Selections will be made without regard to: race, ancestry, place of origin, colour, ethnic origin, citizenship, creed (religion), sex, sexual orientation, handicaps (physical or mental), age, marital status, family status, or the receipt of public assistance.

We offer a professional, yet casual work environment. While we appreciate the interest of all applicants, we will contact only those selected for interviews. We reserve the right to offer contracts to successful candidates during the posting period and close the posting early.
